The 2013 Lehigh Valley Keystone State Games Junior Division baseball team won the silver medal by going 3-1 in the KSG pool play last weekend. That 3-1 mark qualified the LV squad for the gold medal game against an undefeated West team, which proved to be the end of the road for the LV, as the West team proved to be the tournament champion with an 8-2 win over LV to claim the gold medal.

Despite the finish, LV assistant coach Ted Plessl was happy about the end result for the LV team...

After a successful summer campaign, Northampton's boys' basketball team is already looking forward to the winter season.

Entering his second season, head coach Coy Stampone is more comfortable and relaxed about his team's chances. He believes the continuing development of team chemistry and maturation on and off the court will be the key to lifting the K-Kids to another level.

"We really didn't look at the wins and losses during the summer league, but we looked at how we played...

It was a tough end of season for Northampton Legion

Wednesday, August 14, 2013 by JEFF MOELLER Special to the Press in Sports

Northampton legion head coach Mike Bodnar was pleased with his team's overall performance this season. He just wasn't happy with the way the season ended.

Gaining a fourth-seed in the Northampton County Legion (NORCO) playoffs, Northampton lost a best-of-three set to Easton, dropping the final game in an unorthodox 14-9 manner in which they committed six errors.

Easton gained a 9-5 lead after three innings and then sealed the game with a five-run fifth. Northampton pecked away...

Wednesday, August 14, 2013 by JEFF MOELLER Special to the Press in Sports

For the first time in a long time in his golfing career, Evan Notrao is in unchartered waters.

Notaro, who won the 2010 District 11 championship, the 2011 Lehigh Valley Tournament of Champions and the 2012 Lehigh Valley Medal Play Championship during a stellar four-year career at Northampton High School, has admittedly been struggling with his swing this summer.

Late in the spring, Notaro began to experiment in changing his swing. His trials have continued during the summer and...

It would only make sense that the year the PIAA has instituted a three-day heat acclimatization period for football only, we'll probably see the coolest August summer camp in years.

Nevertheless, as the first official day of fall practice is slated for August 12, schools across the state have the option to complete their mandatory, three-day heat acclimatization program starting on August 7 through August 9.

The PIAA web site lists these core principles as staples of the...
