District news: Come on out to George Wolf’s strings recital tonight

At 7 p.m. May 24, come to George Wolf Elementary for the school’s strings recital.

Northampton Area School District will be closed May 28 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Join your community for the upcoming Empty Bowls event to benefit Northampton Area Food Bank. It will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 31 in the courtyard of Northampton Area Middle School, 1617 Laubach Ave. You are invited to come and share a meal with your community. The event is to raise funds to help feed the hungry and raise awareness of food insecurity in the community.

District news: Lehigh chorus plans May 17 concert

The Lehigh Elementary School chorus concert is scheduled for tonight, May 17, and will be held at the elementary school. The concert begins 7 p.m.

George Wolf Elementary School’s band recital will be held 7 p.m. tomorrow, May 18, at the elementary school.

Northampton Area Middle School Drama Club will present “Peter Pan (With a Modern Twist)” 7 p.m. May 18 and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. May 19 in the auditorium of the high school, 1619 Laubach Ave.

Three Northampton Area High School and Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School students won medals at the Skills- USA State Championships in Hershey in April.

Samuel Costenbader won a gold medal for electronics technology, and Christian Stezelberger received gold for industrial motor control. Austin Kern won the bronze medal for firefighting.

Overall, 23 local students won medals in 22 different events at the competition.

NAHS teacher lauded

Angela Munjone, a mathematics teacher at Northampton Area High School, was inducted by Northampton Exchange Club as the Outstanding NAHS Teacher for March/April at the April 4 dinner meeting. The ceremony was held at Northampton Banquet & Event Center.

Munjone received a framed certificate and pen, and her name and accomplishments will be added to the Exchange Club’s collection of honorees. It is the second year the club has paid tribute to outstanding NAHS faculty and staff.
