District News: New school year for NASD students set to begin

Welcome back to school! A new academic year soon begins. Classes start Aug. 27.

Schools will be closed Sept. 3 for the Labor Day holiday. Classes will be back in session Sept. 4.

Borough’s Siegfried (for grades 2-5), 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 4

Moore Elementary School (for grades 1-5), 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 5

George Wolf Elementary School, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 6

Public hearing for Lehigh Elementary project set for Oct. 8

A public hearing for the $34.2 million Lehigh Elementary School project will be held 5:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at Northampton Area School District Administration Building, 2014 Laubach Ave., Northampton.

The NASD Board of Education voted unanimously 9-0 at its Oct. 23, 2017, meeting to demolish the 63-year-old school and build a new school at the site, 800 Blue Mountain Drive, Walnutport, Lehigh Township.

NASD Board of Education names assistant athletic director

An assistant to the Northampton Area School District athletic director has been appointed.

NASD Board of Education voted 9-0 to appoint Matthew Frailey as assistant to the athletic director, effective for the fall, winter and spring seasons of the 2018-19 school year, with a stipend of $3,100, per sports season, with no additional benefits.
