Sophie Laufik, 89, of North Whitehall Township, died March 19, 2014, at home. She was the wife of the late Frederick B. Laufik.
Born in Ormrod, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Verna (Skalish) Kosht.
She was a sewing machine operator for various local mills.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Whitehall.
She is survived by a son, John, at home; two sisters, Anna Kosht and Evelyn and her husband Bernard Slusaw, all of Whitehall; a nephew; and nieces.
Margaret E. Halko, 89, of the village of Egypt in Whitehall Township, died March 19, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late John J. Halko.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Barna) Forensky.
She was a graduate of Lehigh Township High School, Bethlehem Business School and the Allentown Comptometer School.
Margie K. Smith, 67, of Orefield and formerly of Catasauqua, died March 17, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Victor F. and Marian E. E. (Kistler) Smith.
She was an executive aide to the Lehigh County District Attorney for more than 31 years. She was a singer and sang with bands such as "Silent Majority" and "SRO."
She was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Catasauqua.
Walter J. Riedi, 90, formerly of Fla., died March 16, 2014, at Woodlawn Terrace at the Oaks, Saisbury Township.
Born in Oelwin, Iowa, he was a son of the late Walter and Edith (Premis) Riedi.
He was a graduate of Drexel University with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was an executive upon retiring from Sears Roebuck Company after 40 years.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Daytona Beach, Fla.
He was a member of the Easton Lodge 152, F.&A.M.
Edward Gillette, 65, died March 24, 2014.
Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Cherowich) Gillette.
He is survived by six sisters, Agnes Berg, and Elizabeth Arey, Mary Ann Sterner, Angela Resh, Therese Gillete and Margaret Rawson; and five brothers, Joseph, Peter, Paul, Anthony and Timothy.
He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Christopher; a niece, Patricia Arey; and a nephew, Terry Gillette.

Hilda M. Hanner, formerly of Whitehall, died March 20, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Peter W. Hanner.
Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Seier) Solderits.
She was a finisher in several local garment mills. She was previously a cigar wrapper for the former General Cigar Company, Allentown.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Whitehall, and of its Golden Agers group.
Ruth H. Reed, 70 of Northampton, died March 14, 2014, at her home.
Born in East Earl, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Newswanger) Reed and step-daughter to the late Anna (Weaver) Reed.
She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Albright College and a master's degree in education from Temple University.
She was employed by Catasauqua Area School District as a school nurse for the middle and senior high schools for 27 years before retiring in 2003.
She was of the Mennonite faith.
Constance L. Hamilton, 72, of Nazareth, died March 10, 2014, at Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township. She was the wife of the late Lawrence E. Hamilton.
Born in Oil City, she was a daughter of Betty J. (Evans) Stempin and the late Walter P. Stempin.
She was a 1960 Oil City High School graduate.
She was a customer service rep for Verizon for many years before retiring.
Lana F. Hartman, 70, of Coplay, died March 11, 2014, at her home.
Born in Cementon, she was a daughter of the late Nevin and Mildred (Yeager) Fritzinger.
She worked for Western Electric for 34 years before retiring.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth A. of Coplay; two brothers, Alfred Fritzinger of Whitehall and David Fritzinger of Neffs; three sisters, Linda Bobenko of Orefiled, Sandra Valent of Coplay and Shirley Gerny of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a grandson, Connor Hartman.
She was predeceased by three brothers, James, Ralph and Nevin Fritzinger.
Russell H. Peters, 85, of Whitehall, died March 9, 2014, at Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Lovey (Behney) Peters.
Born in Whitehall, he was a son of the late Thomas and Laura (Bowen) Peters.
He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was a truck driver for Economy Pretzels before retiring in 1985. Before that, he worked for the Emmaus Foundry.
