North Catasauqua police responded to these and other calls recently.


· Officers assisted a citizen in the 1200 block of Howertown Road.

· A report of a road hazard brought police to Fifth and Buttonwood streets.

· Officers assisted EMS in the 1200 block of Third Street.


· Police responded to a hit-and-run vehicle accident at Fourth and Grove streets.

· Officers responded to an alarm in the 1400 block of Main Street....

Golden Corral buffet restaurant opens

The long awaited opening of the Golden Corral Buffet & Grill took place today, at the southern edge of the Lehigh Valley Mall campus, east of Macy's.

The coveted all-you-can-eat buffet chain held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony late Wednesday afternoon attended by the owners, family members, local and regional dignitaries and the restaurant chain's corporate representatives.

The Bath Business and Community Partnership is again putting together a 2013 Guide to Historic Bath and surrounding areas to strengthen the local economy. They are inviting businesses, services, physicians, food services, churches and museums to be included. The plan is to have 6,500 brochures printed and distributed to local businesses and public places.

Coplay Column

There is plenty of civic pride to go around in Coplay, a town with a population between 3,300 and 3,500 residents. The one-square-mile borough is sandwiched in by Whitehall Township on three sides, Hokendauqua, Stiles and North Coplay and the Lehigh River on its eastern border.

The borough offers its people much more to do than some other communities and townships with large homes situated on big lots.

Couple plans

summer 2014 nuptials

Mr. and Mrs. Russel L. Steltz of Emmaus announce the engagement of their daughter, Alyson M., to Matthew Kriner, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Kriner of Macungie.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Moravian College, where she studied Education and Psychology. She received a Master's degree in Education and Special Education from Cabrini College.
