Northampton trying to restore Channel 16 for residents

Northampton Borough Council was informed at its recent meeting that the decision not to carry WNEP-TV 16 in its line-up by Service Electric Cable TV & Communications was not their doing, but that of ABC-TV network.

Tim Himmelwright, a Service Electric communications and public affairs official, said the Allentown-based cable company is doing all it can so that Channel 16 could be restored for its viewers. RCN Cable TV has also dropped Channel 16 from its line-up because of the ABC...

Crime victims council

The Crime Victims Council of Lehigh Valley Inc. will offer a new support counseling group beginning Wednesday, Jan. 23, for women 18 years of age and over, who have been sexually assaulted or sexually abused.

The group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for 10 weekly sessions at the Crime Victims Council's Allentown office, located at 801 Hamilton St.

Topics of discussion will include the emotional aftermath, coping skills and relationship issues.

The Catasauqua Club, 226 Pine St., will serve brunch Sunday, Jan. 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to the public and is nonsmoking.

It will feature an all-you-can-eat buffet with omelets made to order. Buffet food to be served includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, home fries, French toast, cream chipped beef (SOS), crepes and various breakfast pastries, along with coffee, tea and orange juice.

Reservations are not necessary but highly suggested.
