The Central Catholic Viking wrestling team began its 2012-13 season with a strong showing at the 2012 Catasauqua Dual Tournament Dec. 8.

Led by seniors Alex Laudadio, James Raduj, Connor Brosious, Nick Heberling and Mike Rodgers, and coached by Dave Snyder, the team looks to continue its early success in upcoming matches against Southern Lehigh and Bethlehem Catholic.

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will hold a food pantry and homeless programs benefit baked goods sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 22 and from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 23.

Sandy relief

The Bosch Group has contributed $100,000 and Catholic Charities donated $20,000 to the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley to assist area residents whose homes were damaged by "Superstorm" Sandy.

Any owner-occupied home is eligible for assistance if the total household income is roughly less than double the poverty rate. Previously, only seniors and disabled heads of households were eligible.

Zumba fitness classes at Bethany Wesleyan Church begin Jan. 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for a cost.

Coed volleyball for ages 15 and up begins Jan. 6. Volleyball will be held every Sunday night with recreational play from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and competitive play from 7:15 to 9 p.m.
