PA PLAYHOUSE:

The Pennsylvania Playhouse, 390 Illicks Mill Road, Bethlehem, is holding auditions for its production of the musical, “She Loves Me,” 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 and Sept. 22, at the playhouse. Callbacks, if necessary, are Sept. 25.

Those auditioning are to prepare 32 bars of music from the show or a similar show or genre, and be ready for movement. A headshot is not necessary. Schedule conflicts should be noted.

ASO CHORUS:

Auditions for new members of the Allentown Symphony Chorus are 6 - 9 p.m. Oct. 10, Rodale Community Room, Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown.

The Allentown Symphony Chorus is a professional-level chorus that accompanies the Allentown Symphony Orchestra in at least one concert per season.

For the 2019-2020 season, the chorus performs with the ASO Feb. 8 and 9, 2020, and April 18 and 19, 2020. The chorus has about 50 persons.

Q. I gave my 81-year-old brother a birthday present recently. As he opened it, a brief smile crossed his face. It was funny to me because I recalled that, when he was a kid, he would tear open presents and jump out of his skin. Does enthusiasm wane as we age?
