Thursday, August 21, 2014 by PAUL WILLISTEIN in Focus

Onstage, he was a dancing dynamo, setting the stage for Michael Jackson, the choreography of Motown groups the Four Tops, Temptations and Supremes and a bass-drums-horn rhythm section that became the foundation of funk.

Offstage, he got into trouble with the law, became an advocate for the African-...

Hot Bijouxx's Josephine Baker tribute in 'Jazz Upstairs'

Monday, August 11, 2014 by CAMILLE CAPRIGLIONE Special to The Press in Focus

Hot Bijouxx is an entertaining throwback to Prohibition-era jazz. This energetic band plays a blend of French-gypsy swing waltz with a saucy musette style and a cool bossa nova sound. The group was nominated for a 2014 Lehigh Valley Music Award for Best New Album.

The band's summer tour kicked off on Bastille Day (July 14) and they returned to Musikfest for the third year. Past performances include Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, Riverside Festival of the Arts and the Doylestown Arts...
