Local author to speak at library

Local author Richard Osborne will give a presentation "Have You Read to Your Kids Lately?" 1 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Coplay Public Library.

Osborne will discuss the importance of quality time with your children at any age through reading and sharing the joy of a visit to your local library.

Osborne is the author of "How To Be Positive, Manifesting Your Dreams and Discovering Your True Self."


The Coplay Town Watch will meet 7 p.m. Nov. 20 in borough council chambers.

Coplay residents are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Jack Frost parades through borough tonight

Northampton's annual Jack Frost Parade will be held 7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 24.

The rain date is Oct. 31.


Trick-or-treat night in the borough is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Residents are urged to turn on their porch lights.


The Northampton Area Food Bank will hold its annual "Scare Away Hunger" walkathon this Saturday, Oct. 26. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the food bank, 1601 Canal St., and the walk begins at 9 a.m.


Assumption BVM Church will hold a breakfast 8:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, Oct. 27, in the social hall on East 22nd Street.

The Catasauqua Area Lions Club will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast including sausage and pancakes 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Applebee's, off Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem.

Trick-or-treat night in Coplay is tomorrow evening

Trick-or-Treat night in Coplay is set for tomorrow, Oct. 25, between 6 and 8 p.m.

Residents are asked to turn their porch lights on if they want children to visit.

Children are also invited to visit the fire station on Cherry Street for the fire department's annual haunted house.

The event, which runs 6-8:30 p.m., is free and popular.


The Coplay Garden Club will meet tonight, Thursday, Oct. 24, at St. John's Lutheran Church, beginning at 7 p.m.

St. Nick's fall bazaar set for Nov. 2 and 3

St. Nicholas Catholic Church will hold its fall bazaar and bake sale Nov. 2-3. Hours Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

A handmade Amish quilt, iPod touch, TV and a men's bicycle will be among items raffled.

Many items will be available for purchase, including baked goods. The kitchen will be open.

Prize drawings start 1 p.m. Sunday and each winner will be notified.

Walnutport Canal Festival Sunday

Lehigh Township Rails to Trails will be providing a free, monitored bicycle parking area during the Walnutport Canal Festival 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.

The site will be at the corner of South Canal and Main streets.

Snap Fitness is sponsoring this service.

The event will also offer the last opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for "Dine-A-Round Lehigh Township."

Prizes are one, two or three $25 gift certificates to township restaurants.
