Lehigh Township column: Fire company to host dinner buffet Sept. 7

The Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company Country Garden will host an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7.

The dinner will include soup, salad bar, rolls, side dishes, entrees and desserts. All proceeds benefit the fire company.

Hope Lutheran Church will hold its annual yard sale Friday, Aug. 31, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Food and drinks will be available to purchase.

The proceeds raised from this event will help pay for renovations to the kitchen in Kuntz Hall at Hope Lutheran Church.

Allen/East Allen column: Offices closed Monday for holiday

Moore column: Golf tournament set for Sept 15

Blue Star Mothers is hosting its second annual golf tournament Saturday, Sept. 15, at Whitetail Golf Course.

The tournament features 18 holes with cart, lunch, dinner and prizes.

Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and there is a cost for the four-man scramble. The shot gun start is at 1 p.m.

Lehigh Township column: St. Paul's U.C.C. invites public to health program Sept. 4

You are invited to attend a special presentation at St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Indianland, 787 Almond Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.

An overview of various services available after you have been hospitalized will be presented by Katie McArdle, BS, and admissions coordinator of the Next Step Acute Rehabilitation of Blue Mountain Health Systems.

Many options available to patients will be discussed along with different levels of care available through insurances.

The program is free. Light refreshments will be served.

There is a fee for materials, and you will create cards with envelopes.

Coplay Community Days set for this weekend

Coplay Community Days begins 5-10 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Aug. 23, with pay-one-price rides 5-10 p.m.

It continues tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 23, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 25, 2-10 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 26, noon-10 p.m.

The event will include entertainment, food and activities. Rides will be offered through Saturday but not on Sunday.

Coplay Community Days began in 1981 as a way to bring visitors to the Saylor Cement Museum and kilns and to pay tribute to retired Coplay Cement Manufacturing workers. It originated as a two-day event, expanding last year to four days.

Lehigh Township column: Church yard sale to include early bird special Aug. 31

There will be an "early bird special" starting at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, for the Hope Lutheran Church Annual Yard Sale.

There is a cost for this one-day special and the fee will be collected at the door. You will be granted early access to all of the items available at the yard sale.

Church members are are also looking for volunteers to provide baked goods and home-cooked dishes to be be sold at the event.
