Rain alters girls run in EPC playoffs

A quirk in the seeding process saw the Northampton softball team in the third spot for the EPC tournament, below an Emmaus team they had defeated twice in the regular season.

This led to a first-round matchup with Nazareth, a team that had defeated the Kids three days earlier.

The Blue Eagles drew first blood when Serena Smith led off the game with an infield single and came around to score on a fielder’s choice.

Girls knock off Pates

On Tuesday night at Pete Schneider Gymnasium, the Konkrete Kids girls basketball team looked to follow up their 92-67 thrashing of a previously undefeated Pleasant Valley squad with a win over a two-loss, defending District 11 champion Freedom team.

The Northampton fans held their collective breath as a last-second Freedom heave was off target, preserving a hard-fought, 58-57 win.

Girls topple Emmaus

On a muggy Monday evening, the 8-2-1 Emmaus Green Hornets descended on Northampton to take on a Konkrete Kids’ girls varsity soccer team bent on revenge. Emmaus had defeated the Kids 1-0 in the season opener on September 1st. The Kids entered the game riding a season high 3-game winning streak, having beaten Becahi, Allen, and East Stroudsburg North by a combined 26-0.
