President Donald Trump made his first visit to the Lehigh Valley as president May 14 to tour the Owens & Minor Inc. medical supply distribution center, 7437 Industrial Blvd., Upper Macungie Township.
During a livestream video on the White House Web page, Trump discussed increasing the Strategic National Stockpile, coronavirus testing and state reopening plans.
Trump addressed an audience of several dozen employees, all sitting at least 6 feet apart and wearing masks. Trump did not wear a mask on the tour.
Student instruction will continue despite coronavirus school closures, Pennsylvania’s secretary of education said during an April 9 media telebriefing.
Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera said he has set “really strong and high expectations” that Pennsylvania schools provide continuing education and instruction to homebound students during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The briefing came on the heels of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s order on that same day to extend school closures for the rest of the 2019-20 academic year due to COVID-19.
An evening of food, music, celebration and spectacle was capped off by a historic Allentown Christmas tradition during the Pip the Mouse reception at the Liberty Bell Museum at Zion’s Reformed Church of Christ, 620 Hamilton St., Allentown.
The Rev. Joshua Knappenberger, museum director, began the Nov. 25 event by welcoming and thanking reception attendees. Guests enjoyed drinks and a buffet prepared by museum board members and volunteers.
