Mirza Sabovic’s free kick goal at 12:35 of the second overtime lifted the Bears to a 2-1 win over Northampton in the quarterfinals of the District 11 Class 4A boys soccer tournament on Thursday.
Just two weeks ago, PV beat the Konkrete Kids by one goal in a shootout, with Sabovic scoring the game-winner in the quarterfinals of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference tournament.
The game took 80 minutes of regulation play, two 15 minute overtimes and five shootout penalty kicks before a winner was decided.
Mirza Sabovic’s shootout goal ended the marathon and gave Pleasant Valley a 1-0, shootout win over Northampton in an East Penn Conference quarterfinal boys’ soccer game.
The matchup featured school’s with excellent team speed. The Bears (14-3-1 and the fourth seed) dominated play and field position in the first half and held the fifth-seeded Kids to no shots on goal.
