Fire co. to assist Santa

Would you like to have Santa deliver a personal gift to your good little boy or girl?

Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company, Cherryville, will assist Santa in delivering his goodies Saturday, Dec. 8, between 4 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9, between 1 and 4 p.m.

For a donation, township residents can have Santa deliver your personal gift to your child. Deliveries are limited to the township.

Join the Indianland Garden Club at its next meeting

You are invited to the last of the regular monthly meetings for the year of the Indianland Garden Club Tuesday, Nov. 13. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The program, which begins at 7 p.m., is entitled "End of the Year Wrap-up and 2013 Planning."

This month, the meeting will be held at the Hanson Hall of Hope Lutheran Church. Note this is a change from the usual Kuntz Hall meeting location. The Hanson Hall is situated on the eastern end of the church building.

Breakfast set for Nov. 18

The Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company Country Garden will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast Sunday, Nov. 18, from 8 a.m. to noon.

The menu will include a large variety of breakfast items.

All proceeds benefit the fire company.

The Lehigh Township Historical Society announces two dates for a holiday open house in December.

On Dec. 2 and 9, from 1 to 4 p.m., the historical centre will be open for visitors and shoppers.

Many unique items are available for purchase for gift giving including maps, ornaments, shirts, DVDs and books.

Fire co. buffet set for Nov. 2

The Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company Country Garden will hold an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet Friday, Nov. 2, 4-8 p.m.

The dinner will include soup, salad bar, rolls, side dishes, entrees and desserts. All proceeds benefit the fire company.

Boy Scout Troop 242 is having its annual Italian buffet Saturday, Nov. 17, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville.

Dinner will be served from 3 until 8 p.m.

There will also be a basket raffle and bake sale during the dinner.

Tickets will be available at the door.

Church to hold trunk or treat

Trunk or Treat will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 6:30-8 pm at Bethany Wesleyan Church.

Children up until fifth-grade are invited to join the fun going from display to display gathering treats. The displays will be decorated according to the theme Blast from the Past. Children are asked to stick with the theme and dress in a related costume. Please, no scary costumes.

Township museum open Oct. 14

Sunday, Oct. 14, is your last chance to visit the Lehigh Township Historical Centre, located at Indian Trail Park, Route 248, Pennsville.

The Centre will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. for self-guided tours.

The exhibits showcase the society's unique collection of memorabilia which includes items from the slate industry, Dieter's Foundry, farm tools and much more.

Anyone interested in visiting the historical centre after Oct. 14 may call 610-767-5989 for an appointment.

St. Paul's Schoolhouse is also open by appointment.

All are invited to attend the 18th Annual Fall Walk-In Basket Social Oct. 12. The event will be held in Kuntz Hall at Hope Lutheran Church.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the drawing will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Mum sale is Saturday

Purchase mums for the fall from the Lehigh Township Historical Centre in Pennsville. Many varieties and colors will be on sale Saturday, Sept. 22, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ladies from St. Paul's UCC of Indianland will also conduct a bake sale at that time. If all plants are not sold Saturday, the sale will continue on Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.

The centre will be open for visitors on Sept. 23 and Sunday, Oct. 14, 1 to 4 p.m. When you visit, you will see construction underway at the side of the building. All proceeds from the mum sale will benefit this project.
