Preschool seeks students

Hope Lutheran Preschool is now accepting registrations for the 2014-15 school year.

The school's structured learning environment helps to prepare 3- and 4-year-old children for their formal school experiences.

Activities include music, crafts, gym, painting, language arts, field trips and much more.

Locks of Love Cut-A-Thon approaching

The Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company Country Garden will be holding an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet on Friday, Aug. 1, from 4-8 p.m.

The dinner will include soup, salad bar, rolls, side dishes, entrees and desserts. All proceeds benefit the fire company.

Upward Sports Flag Football and Cheerleading at Bethany Wesleyan Church is now registering for boys and girls in grades K-8.

The registration deadline is Aug. 3.

Cut-A-Thon set for Aug. 18

A Locks of Love Cut-A-Thon will be held on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bethany Wesleyan Church Family Life Center, 675 Blue Mountain Drive, Cherryville.

Get a free haircut and help a child! Hair must fit into a ponytail that measures 10 inches or more in length.

New this year are haircuts, for a cost, for men and women, manicures, haircuts for children 12 and under.

St. Nick's to host breakfast

St. Nick's kitchen crew is planning a Sunday breakfast for 8:45 a.m.-1 p.m. June 2.

Choose either a scrambled eggs platter or a stack of pancakes. Both choices come with baked ham, home fries, homemade sweet bread and unlimited coffee or a glass of juice.

The children's menu for ages 12 and under will offer three pancakes and juice or, for ages 6 and under, frosted flakes and juice.

All are invited to enjoy a delicious alternative to a fast-food breakfast, with family friendly pricing.

Fire co. to host breakfast

The Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company Country Garden will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast 8 a.m.-noon Sunday, May 19.

The breakfast will include a large variety of menu items.

All proceeds benefit the fire company.

The public is invited to the next meeting of the Indianland Garden Club Tuesday, May 14, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville.

The doors open at 6 p.m. with a plant auction beginning at 7 p.m.

Club members will be bringing in many types of plants. Last year, bidders enjoyed a large variety of houseplants and outdoor plants.

Walk set for May 18

The Lehigh Township Rails to Trails and the D&L National Heritage Corridor organization will be sponsoring an interpretive walk along the D&L National Corridor Saturday, May 18.

The walk will start at 9 a.m. at the Cove Road trailhead under the Treichlers Bridge and will move at a leisurely pace for about 1.5 miles to Rockdale with stops to discuss local history, geology and biology.

Although there is no cost for the walk, donations are always appreciated.

Children age 10 and over are welcome.

Basket party set for Sunday

The Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company Country Garden will host an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 3.

Proceeds benefit the fire company.

The Lehigh Township Lioness Club will hold a basket party Sunday, April 28, at the Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company.

You can browse from 2-4 p.m. and the drawing will be held at 4:15 p.m.

Food will be available for purchase and a bake sale will also be held.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item for the Northampton Area Food Bank.

Garden trip set for May

The Indianland Garden Club is planning a bus trip to New York's Botanical Garden on Tuesday, May 21.

The Perkiomen Tour Bus will leave from Hope Lutheran Church in Cherryville at 7:45 a.m. and arrive back at 6 p.m.

Participants will spend the day at one of the oldest and largest botanical gardens in the world. The New York Botanical Garden, in the Bronx, is a museum of plants and a National Historic Landmark with more than 400,000 native plants and thousands of shrubs and trees on the gorgeous grounds.
