Dump truck hits car at Municipal Road, Lehigh DriveA woman was flown to a local hospital from the scene of a crash on Route 248 in Lehigh Township Nov. 29.
Township police said a blue Chrysler Sebring, driven by Joan Frable, 77, of Lehigh Township, was on Municipal Road at a stop sign facing north, at the intersection of Route 248 (Lehigh Drive) 10:02 a.m.
According to a witness, upon pulling into the intersection, the Sebring was struck by an orange tri-axle dump truck. The truck was fully loaded at the time. The truck was owned by NS Paving of Lehighton and operated by Corey Mann, 49, of East Stroudsburg.
County DA not seeking another term

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli will not seek another term as district attorney in 2019. Morganelli is currently Pennsylvania’s most senior district attorney and has served as president of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association. Morganelli’s current term does not end until Dec. 31, 2019.

Lehigh County residents disposed of 500.5 pounds of expired and unused over-the-counter and prescription medications during the 16th National Take Back Day Oct. 27. The total of drugs collected during all Take Back Day events since 2010 is 12,943.5 pounds.

Three female welding students from Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, didn’t win their national competition, but the result of their effort will endure much longer than the shine of any medal.
A rocket stove manufactured by welding and fabrication engineering technology students Joelle E. Perelli, of Bath; Erin M. Beaver, of Winfield; and Natalie J. Rhoades, of Weedville, earlier this summer at the SkillsUSA National Championships in Louisville, Ky., is in the process of being donated to a family in the developing world.

Michael Seidick wins golf, relay challengesMichael Seidick, of Northampton, won several medals during the 2018 Transplant Games of America, held Aug. 2-7 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He won gold in golf singles, gold in team golf and gold in the 4x400m relay while representing Northampton, Lehigh and Berks counties on Team Philadelphia.
Seidick received two kidney transplants. The first was in 1978 at the age of 8, and the second was in 1984.
There were 12 competitors from the Lehigh Valley on Team Philadelphia, which covered eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware.

Driver charged in crash that killed Catty passenger

Lehigh County District Attorney James Martin announced July 11 an Allentown man has been charged in relation to a fatal crash.
Corey Sickler, 26, of 315 Linden St., Allentown, has been charged with one count each of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, a felony of the second degree, and homicide by vehicle and accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed, both felonies of the third degree.
