To promote early literacy, the library has an ongoing program called 1,000 Books before Kindergarten, which encourages parents to read to their young children. To participate, sign up at the help desk and receive a folder with a sheet to mark off books.

At each 100-book milestone, bring the sheet back and your child will receive a prize. Once 1,000 books is achieved, you and your child get to attend a special ceremony, held twice a year.

Checkout databases available to you on the library website.

With Pronunciator, you have access to courses for over 80 languages, spoken by 95 percent of the world’s population. And if your native tongue isn’t English, don’t worry. You can choose any one of 50 languages to take your courses in.

Complete your family tree with the help of the Ancestry and HeritageQuest databases. Search through genealogical and historical sources. Both databases are available with your library card. Ancestry can only be accessed within the library.

All programs are free, open to the public and require registration, unless otherwise noted. Register at the library help desk or call 610-262-7537. Visit for more information.
