Allen/East Allen townships: Historical society plans tavern night

Governor Wolf Historical Society’s monthly tavern night will be held Oct. 11 on the society’s campus, 6600 Jacksonville Road, East Allen Township. The campus opens 6:30 p.m., and music begins 7 p.m.

The featured band will be Mike Guldin and Rollin and Tumblin, performing oldies and rockabilly music.

Bring your own snacks and beverages. Complimentary non- alcoholic beverages and light snacks will be available, and the Yummy Tummy food truck will be on site.

No advance reservations are needed. There is a cost.

Tavern night will be held the second Friday of every month through March, except for December.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville, will hold a build-your-own taco bar 4-7 p.m. Oct. 12. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Proceeds will benefit the church’s youth program retreat.


Tours of Horner’s Cemetery, 4965 Nor-Bath Blvd., will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 12 and 9-11 a.m. Oct. 19 and 26. Hear about the area’s connection to Ben Franklin, George Washington and Teddy Roosevelt.

Private group and individual tours are available by appointment into November.

Zion Stone United Church of Christ, 51 Church Road, Kreidersville, will hold a community trunk or treat 1-3 p.m. Oct. 20.

Good Shepherd is planning a trunk or treat 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27. Decorate your vehicle’s trunk and hand out candy or bring your children to enjoy the event.

Refreshments will be served.


A variety bingo fundraiser will be held Nov. 3 at East Allen Township Volunteer Fire Department, 5354 Nor-Bath Blvd. Doors open 11:30 a.m., and games begin 1 p.m.

Prizes include items from Pampered Chef, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Scentsy, Coach, Kate Spade and Dooney & Bourke. There will be door prizes and raffles.

East Allen Township is running a bus trip Dec. 7 to American Music Theatre, Lancaster. The bus will depart 8 a.m. from Catasauqua High School. Show time is 10:30 a.m. Lunch at Shady Maple will follow.

Cost includes transportation, tickets and lunch.
