Fire, EMS groups receive grants

State Sen. Lisa M. Boscola, D-18th, recently announced 28 fire departments and emergency medical services providers in her district in both Lehigh and Northampton counties will be awarded $366,603 through the 2018-19 Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grants, which is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“These grants will help provide financial assistance to the most vital organizations in our community,” Boscola said. “Our local fire departments and EMS providers are well-deserving of this funding, which will help protect our citizens who are in need of their services.”

Grants awarded will be not less than $2,500 and not more than $15,000 per applicant fire company and no more than $10,000 per applicant EMS.

Grants approved in Boscola’s district include:

LEHIGH COUNTY

• Egypt Fire Company No. 1 with Whitehall Fire Department — $13,162.04

• Hokendauqua Fire Company — $12,172.45

• West Catasauqua Fire Company — $11,512.73

• Coplay Fire Department — $11,677.66

• Catasauqua Fire Department — $14,481.50

• Han-Le-Co Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 — $11,512.73

• Eastern Salisbury Fire Ambulance and Rescue Company — $13,656.84

• Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company — $14,811.36

• Emmaus Borough Ambulance Corps — $7,155.22

• Emmaus Fire Department — $14,811.36

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY

• Northampton Fire Department — $13,326.97

• Northampton Regional EMS — $7,155.22

• Charotin Hose Company No. 1 — $12,172.45

• Bethlehem City Fire Department — $13,162.04

• City of Easton Fire Department — $14,811.36

• Dewey Fire Company No. 1 (fire and EMS) — $21,966.58
