Three seek DA seat
Two Democrats are seeking the seat of Northampton County district attorney.
Nuria DiLuzio and Terry Houck are on the ballot.
The winner of that race will face Republican Tom Carroll, who is unopposed, in the general election in November.
The Press asked the Democratic candidates to respond to the following question:
What do you see as the biggest issue for residents in your municipality/county?
We live in a great county full of opportunity. But we are facing serious challenges that require a district attorney who is engaged and collaborative. I believe the residents of our county are most concerned with the opioid crisis and the mental health crisis that is tearing apart the very fabric of our families and community. We must treat these issues with compassion and recognize diverting these cases from the criminal process is the best way to address them and give hope to those affected. This approach is best for the community because treatment and a second chance helps everyone succeed.
Houck did not respond.
