Coplay Saengerbund memberCarl D. Snyder, 89, of Whitehall, died Jan. 4, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of the late Margaret J. (Gollatz) Snyder for 47 years.
Born in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Claude and Elsie (Zellner) Snyder.
He was in the U.S. Army in Panama during the Korean conflict.
He was a forklift operator for more than 46 years for the James River Corporation, formerly Dixie, until he retired in 1991.
He was a member of the Stanley W. Reinhard Jr. American Legion Post 426, Coplay; the Coplay Saengerbund; and the Ranger Rod and Gun Club, where he was a fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy L. of Whitehall; a son, Carl D. and his wife Deb of Nazareth; a brother, Edward and his wife Susan Snyder of Easton; four sisters, Helen Fehr and Anna Mack of Nazareth and Betty Murante and Marlene and her husband Robert Manini of Pen Argyl; a longtime family friend, Carey Hacker; a stepgrandson, Brandon Betts; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Kalynn and Dylan Betts; nieces; nephews; and extended family.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Knowles; and five brothers, Raymond, Leon, Norman, Earl and infant Snyder.
