Boys, girls finish with winning records
At the beginning of the season, cross country coach Dan Benner said one of the goals for the year was to have the boys and girls teams finish with winning records.
While both teams have had their share of success in the past, it had been a while since both teams ended with records above the .500 mark.
Over the past couple of weeks which closed out the regular season, success in the final three meets resulted in just that as the girls ended their year with a 12-5 mark and the boys finished at 11-6.
“It was great that both teams had winning seasons, it has been awhile since we have had both teams accomplish that,” Benner said.
On Sept. 29, both the boys and girls teams competed at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. Georgia Wiswesser ran a personal best time of 19:33 to finish 27th out of 331 runners. She was the top female finisher from District XI on the day.
On Oct. 3, the Kids traveled to East Stroudsburg South High School to take on East Stroudsburg North, East Stroudsburg South, and Stroudsburg. Both the boys and girls went 2-1 on the day with wins over ESN and ESS.
The last regular season meet was Oct. 9, at Easton. The Kids scored against Becahi, Easton, Freedom, Liberty, and Nazareth. The girls went 4-1 on the day with wins against Becahi, Freedom, Liberty, and Nazareth. The boys went 2-3 on the day with wins over Becahi and Freedom.
Now the team heads to the postseason over the next few weeks. Tuesday, Oct. 16 were the EPC Championships, see story on page A9, and Wednesday Oct. 24, are the District XI Championships. Both are at Bethlehem Municipal Golf Course.
