Bath’s new motto announced
After a two-month search that included a contest, Bath Borough has selected its new motto. About 80 contestants, both from the borough and outside communities, submitted potential slogans. Entries had to be 10 words or less.
Councilman Frank Hesch, who headed the selection committee, said, “This motto captures the spirit of Bath.”
Bath resident Charles Mcllhaney’s entry, “History Nestled with Friendship,” was selected by the motto committee. Mcllhaney was present at the Oct. 1 Bath Borough Council meeting when the winning motto was announced by Mayor Fiorella Reginelli-Mirabito.
The winning motto, chosen about two weeks ago, was a well-kept secret by borough officials. Borough council voted unanimously to accept the motto.
Mcllhaney received numerous gifts and gift cards from Bath businesses. He thanked all for his motto’s selection.
“Thank you to all who submitted mottoes. This is a historic night,” Reginelli-Mirabito said.
