Stella Kristofits marks occasion with three parties

In celebration of her 100th birthday, Stella Kristofits had three separate parties at Sacred Heart Senior Living by the Creek, Northampton, where she now resides.

Stella is the third Sacred Heart resident to have reached this milestone.

“I had three days for my birthday,” Stella said.

The official big day was Sept. 20, but she got to celebrate with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren over the course of a few days. Even the Sacred Heart staff and administration joined the festivities.

Stella previously lived in North Whitehall Township. She grew up in West Coplay, now known as Stiles in Whitehall Township.

“When I was growing up, I liked polka dancing at the West Coplay Maennerchor. It was West Coplay then; now it is Stiles. I was 18 and 19. I didn’t drink,” she said.

She reported that, even over the years, she did not drink alcoholic beverages.

Stella was one of 10 brothers and sisters. She married and then raised four children. In addition to her two surviving sons and a daughter, she has a granddaughter, a grandson, a great-granddaughter, a stepgreat-granddaughter and stepgreat-grandsons, a great-great-granddaughter, a stepgreat- great-granddaughter and a stepgreat-great-grandson. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children in California, New York, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., and around Pennsylvania.

She was well known as a seamstress. Now she enjoys crocheting, crossword puzzles and word games.

She said her greatest pleasure are visits from family and friends and added that she has enjoyed her time at Sacred Heart.

“Everyone is so nice,” she said.
