Connie Mack rallies to beat So. Lehigh
What a difference an inning makes.
The Northampton Connie Mack baseball team found itself trailing 7-1 after three sloppy innings against Southern Lehigh on Monday, June 25.
Then a hit came. Then another one. And another one.
When all was said and done, the K-Kids sent 13 batters to the plate in a 10-run fourth inning that propelled Northampton to a 13-8 victory.
Ethan Szerencsits, Michael Kuzio and Joseph Kerbacher each scored twice during the breakout inning.
Kerbacher went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Ayden Hughes went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Jacob Struss reached base four times, but did it the hard way. In addition to recording a single, Struss was hit by a pitch in three other at-bats.
Starting pitcher Jacob Christman struggled to find a rhythm early, but found a groove as the game went on. Christman, combined with reliever Kuzio, scattered four hits and one run over the last four innings.
The K-Kids improved to 11-4 on the season and sit in third-place in the 23-team league. Northampton travels to Wilson on Saturday, June 30 and hosts Northern Valley on Monday, July 2.
