Northampton Legion looks for strong season
Northampton’s Legion squad is looking to replicate the success they enjoyed a year ago following a 19-6 campaign.
Mike Bodnar is back in charge for the Kids, who were 4-1 in action this week and look to stay on top of a division they’ve won the past three years.
Northampton reached the finals of last year’s NORCO tournament before losing to Hellertown in three games.
With experience and youth in the mix this summer, Northampton looks primed to make another run to the finals.
“Our team goals don’t change year to year,” Bodnar said. “We need, as a team, to become more than that. We need to become family. To have that special chemistry that only the very best teams have. We can accomplish this if everybody knows their role and accepts that role and then performs it at their highest level. If everybody works their butts off to accomplish this, then playoffs, regionals and individual goals will follow.”
Back for the Kids this year include Zach Angerman, Nick Bodnar, Patrick Bodnar, Tyler Illif, Andrew Kovalchik, Zech Lambert, Brandon Michael, Cole Rufe and Kyle Serman. All players bring plenty of Legion experience to the table to mix in with new players such as Cam Eaton, Mike Ettl, Terry Graver, Mike Kuzio, Seth Laky, Kyle Morin, Brittain Shander and Evan Zwolenick.
“All of this group were starters for the high school team and I expect most to do the same with me,” said Bodnar of the new additions. “As in the past, I expect this team to compete at a high level. With the roster we have, I believe we should go deep in the playoffs and hopefully make the regional tournament.”
