Mother Nature once again made life a little difficult for the area’s coaches, players and athletic directors, but Northampton’s spring athletes were able to pick up a couple key wins last week.

The K-Kids’ boys’ volleyball team won two nonconference games over North Pocono and Southern Lehigh to improve its record to 2-2. Both contests were 3-0 sweeps.

Northampton’s softball team opened the season with two big victories: 15-0 vs. Fleetwood and 17-2 vs. East Stroudsburg-North. The K-Kids had a full week off before resuming their East Penn Conference schedule against Emmaus on Wednesday, April 4.

The varsity baseball team is also off to an undefeated start. Northampton defeated North Pocono 13-2, East Stroudsburg-North 15-0, and Catasauqua 10-0.

The boys’ tennis team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 4-3 victory over East Stroudsburg-North. The team’s next home match is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 10 against Emmaus.

The girls’ lacrosse team opened the season 1-2 with a win over Quakertown and losses to Freedom and Emmaus. In the victory over Quakertown, Lauren Yeaw recorded two goals and two assists, and Autumn Van Horn, Cam Devitt, Haley Gonsalves, and Domenica Lerch each tallied two goals.

The boys’ lacrosse team dropped its first two games of the 2018 season to Nazareth and Freedom. Senior Greg Milnes, junior Matt Tretter, sophomore Dario Walnock and sophomore Damon Hudak each recorded goals against the Patriots.
