Girls lacrosse set to start their season
Head coach Paige Hoffman and the Northampton girls’ lacrosse team are hoping that 13 is their lucky number this season.
The K-Kids have 13 seniors on the team, and all 13 of them have played together from their freshman to their now-senior seasons.
“All of them have played with us for the past four years, which really contributes to the culture of our team,” Hoffman said. “They were mentored as underclassmen and really strive to now mentor and support our underclassmen.”
The K-Kids’ senior captains this year are goalie Ashley Coughlin, midfielder Domenica Lerch and attacker Camryn Devitt.
In addition to the senior leadership, Hoffman is also looking forward to an influx of youth within the program. This is the first year that Northampton’s youth program is connected to the high school team.
“I have freshman coming in with prior lacrosse experience for the first time, which is so exciting and energizing,” Hoffman said. “Given our incoming talent, we were really able to jump right in and bypass some of the fundamentals instruction that we’ve spent a lot of time on in the past at the start of our season.”
Northampton’s first two games have been postponed due to weather, but the K-Kids are expected to start their season on Wednesday, March 28 against Quakertown, followed by a road game at Freedom on Saturday, March 31.
