Kids headed to District 11 finals
For the first time since 1973, the Northampton boys basketball team will be playing for a District 11 championship.
That’s because on Wednesday night, the Kids knocked off Emmaus in an exciting 58-54 contest. The K-Kids will now face top-seed East Stroudsburg South, which was a 52-49 winner over Pocono Mountain West, also Wednesday night.
The Kids trailed by as many as four points with just over two minutes left to go. Cory Weisenberger hit a big three-pointer before Aidan Ellwood gave the Kids the lead for good at 55-54.
Ellwood led all scorers with 24 points including two three pointers. Weisenberger had 17 points and four threes in the game.
NHS also got some help from Spencer Cole who hit three three-pointers giving him nine points. Mike Torres had five and Zach Gula chipped in with three.
The Kids will play in the finals on Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Freedom High School.
