Allen/East Allen townships: Historical society plans tavern night

Governor Wolf Historical Society will hold its next tavern night 6:30-10 p.m. Jan. 12 at the 6600 Jacksonville Road campus.

The Midnight Shift, a band from Reading, will play 1950s and ’60s music and rock-a-billy in the Academy building. Steve Myers will play keyboard in the Ralston McKeen House, with Debbie Evans singing everything from standards to oldies to popular tunes from today.

There will be tastings by a local brewery or winery and an exhibit of works by a local artist.

The event is BYOB. Attendees must be at least 21 years old to attend.

A donation is requested.


East Allen Township Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its 2018 spring sports programs. T-ball and baseball are available for boys ages 5 to 14.

All baseball teams will participate in the NAA House League/Parkland Youth League.

Soccer is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 16. All soccer teams will participate in the Northern Valley Youth Soccer League.

Coaches and their assistants provide the township with both an ACT 34 clearance by Pennsylvania State Police and a state child abuse history clearance.

Registration began Jan. 8 at the municipal building, 5344 Nor-Bath Blvd. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

There is a fee for the programs but no fundraisers.

Lappawinzo Fish and Game will hold a breakfast 8 a.m.-noon Jan. 21 at the club, 25 Lappawinzo Road.

There is a cost.

It is open to the public.


East Allen Township is seeking counselors for its summer camp.

Applicants must be in college or their senior year of high school and be able to work 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. June 18-Aug. 3, Monday through Friday, with no time off.
