Girls off to hot start as Jeff Jacksits sets win mark
The Northampton girls varsity basketball team faced off against Emmaus High School on Friday evening, Dec. 15, in a game that would become another Northampton victory and another ‘W’ in head coach Jeff Jacksits’ notable career.
The girls took the court at Emmaus on Friday night on a mission to cinch another win. Northampton scored 21 points in the first quarter of play and went onto consistently answer every counter mounted by Emmaus. Among the top scorers in the game were Northampton’s Jenna Rogers with 21 total points scored. Victoria Keenan scored 16 total points and Morgan Sterner contributed with a total of 10 points on Friday night.
In the end, Northampton bested Emmaus by a score of 71-53.
This latest Kids victory comes amid much fanfare for head coach Jeff Jacksits who surpassed Northampton’s all-time winningest coach record with the girls’ win over East Stroudsburg North last Tuesday evening. Jacksits, who is in his 14th season with Northampton, surpassed a record formerly held by Ellen Malone for the most wins by a Northampton School coach. With Jacksits at the helm, the Northampton girls basketball program has grown into a team that has now seen several District 11 championship games and conference titles. The team’s win over East Stroudsburg gave Jacksits his 214th career win; and the count continues with 215 wins after Friday’s game. The team is now 4-0 overall.
At press time, Northampton is hoping to continue this winning trend as they welcome Allentown Central Catholic on Tuesday, Dec. 19, and travel on Friday, Dec. 22nd to face Nazareth High School.
