Road, stormwater improvements are part of township’s list of conditions

Allen Township Board of Supervisors gave its stamp of approval Nov. 28 to allow the construction of two warehouses that will be built next to the FedEx Ground hub on 80 acres near Willowbrook Road.

According to Johanna Chervak, real estate development director for Rockefeller Group, improvements being sought include left turn lanes onto Race Street, Airport Road and the Race Street intersection as well as stormwater improvements.

Lot No. 5 was unanimously approved by the board.

Attorney Joseph Fitzpatrick, of Fitzpatrick, Lentz & Bubba, said Rockefeller Group agreed to 22 conditions that must be met.

Township Solicitor B. Lincoln Treadwell said Airport Road improvements are required, and Supervisor Dale Hassler questioned when the work will begin.

“I don’t see any dirt being turned here,” he said. “I don’t see the improvements being done.”

Supervisor Gary Beh- ler stressed the necessity of completing improvements to the road first.

“I don’t know how we add additional trucks to the road,” he said.

In other business, the supervisors discussed the importance of keeping the zoning hearing board membership at five persons.

“I think you’re better off staying at five,” Hassler said. “A three-person board becomes more difficult.”

Chairman Larry Oberly concurred.

“It gets increasingly difficult to find people to fill these boards,” he said. “A three-person board becomes more difficult. I think five is what I want.”

The supervisors agreed to change the reorganization meeting from Jan. 1 to 6 p.m. Jan. 2.
