Roundup: Volleyball falls to 7-10; district golf

Central Catholic defeated Northampton 25-18, 21-25, 25-17, 25-10 in a recent volleyball game, dropping the Kids to 7-10 on the season.

Olivia Lucas and Sydney Heffner had 14 assists each. Krystal Heffelfinger had 11 kills and Julia Kester had eight kills in the loss for the Kids.

Northampton defeated Notre Dame GP 25-13, 25-22, 25-10.

Heffner had eight kills and 15 assists. Lucas had five aces while Brooke Rockovits and Krystal Heffelfinger had seven kills each.

Emmaus defeated Northampton 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.

Kester had nine kills. Heffner had 11 assists and three aces and Olivia Lucas had 11 assists and an ace. Karissa Hartzell had eight digs.

Emmaus was led by Abigail Perkins’ 13 kills and three blocks. Macy Van Den Elzen had 11 kills and four digs and Caroline Bond added four kills, three blocks, 39 assists and 10 digs.

The District 11 golf tourney will take place after Press deadlines Wednesday at Olde Homestead after rain washed away Monday’s play at Lehigh Country Club.

Northampton will take part in the team competition, looking to better its place after the recently held EPC meet.

Anthony Sawarynski is starting on hole 11 and is taking part in both the team and individual part of the tourney. Sawarynski advanced after firing an 87 at the District 11 qualifier.

Andrew Hozza was scheduled to start on 12A after he was exempt from the qualifier. He placed third in the EPC tournament a few weeks ago and is looking to advance to past districts.

Also taking part for the boys are: Jack Test, Devon Britton and Andrew Kovalchik

Kate Gogel and Jess Bretzik are taking part in the girls tourney and also representing Northampton.
