The Northampton cross country team honored its senior runners on Tuesday at their home meet. In all, six runners will move on after this season, including five girls and one boy: Sam Arnold, Beth Albright, Olivia Cappolella, Hannah Flaven, Hope Scott and Jenele Vadelund.

As for the meet, both boys and girls teams went 2-1 on the day, which brought their records each to 3-3 on the season.

The boys defeated Allen (15-48) and Dieruff (19-44), while falling to Parkland. The girls defeated Allen (15-50) and Dieruff (15-50), also falling to Parkland.

“Overall, it was a warmer than normal day, so times were off a little bit, but I was happy with the way the team competed against some tough competition,” said head coach Dan Benner. “It was a successful step in the right direction.”

The girls were led by Georgia Wiswesser (20:21), Amber Ponikera (21:00), Magen Perelli (21:11), Hannah Flaven (22:26) and Olivia Rigo (22:37).

Other key runners were Lauren Pague (23:07) and Jenele Vadelund (24:09).

The boys ran well, too, according to Benner.

Once again, Vince Gallagher led the way with a 17:38 followed by Isaiah Tyler (18:28), Evan Gillette (18:44), Sam Arnold (19:52) and Nic Quinones (19:52).

Other key runners on the day included Kolton Bates (19:58), Owen Nahf (20:01), and Matt Heisler (20:04).

The runners have a busy week as their next meet is Saturday at the Hershey Invite.

“It is the same course as states, which we hope to be back at on Nov. 4,” Benner said.

The Kids return to EPC action on Sept. 26 when we travel to Pleasant Valley to face Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mountain East, and Pocono Mountain West.
