Historical society holds picnic
Ruth Kent, treasurer of Lehigh Township Historical Society, said the reason for the group’s recent picnic was to have members attend and hear about a change to the articles of incorporation. It was held in an Indian Trail Park pavilion.
Kent said things are not being done in the manner in which the articles were designed. The society has been driven by a board of directors.
The change is to have a member meeting annually, at which time people will have the chance to vote on upcoming issues. Since, due to the rain, attendance was poor, people can vote at the historical society center. A signature list keeps a record of voters.
Upcoming events are a bus tour of local one- and two-room schools beginning at St. Paul’s School. A history of the schools will be narrated. There will be refreshments at St. Paul’s Church.
There will be a fee for the Sept. 23 event, with two tours to be held 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., with a third if enough people register to make it necessary.
Registration deadline is Sept. 3.
Tickets are available at the historical center, or registration forms are available on the website.
