Girls come together
Northampton High School’s softball team came together to regroup and redefine the rest of the season ahead after a scorching 11-0 loss to Bethlehem Catholic in six innings on Monday.
“We had a good conversation about what they need to do as players, and what we, as coaches, need to do,” said Northampton coach Kevin Mann.
The last thing anyone expected on Monday was for history to repeat itself, but it did. Earlier in the season, the Hawks defeated the Konkrete Kids 11-1.
“That’s exactly what I said to them just now,” Mann said, “so we talked about what we need to do to right the ship.”
Batting, pitch selection, and fewer errors are on the top of the list.
“We chose better pitches [in the Allentown Central Catholic game],” said Mann.
The K Kids defeated the Vikings 5-1 last week.
“We had six hits, and we got them at key times when we needed them,” Mann said.
The biggest hits were Maura Moser’s triple, which produced two RBI, and Brandi Davidson’s double.
This week, the K Kids will face Nazareth, and will get another chance against Parkland, after losing to the Trojans 1-0 earlier this month.
“That day, all we needed were two hits, and the outcome would have been different, but we left six runners on base,” said Mann. “It’s like I told them, you’re the ones playing the game.”
