Softball tops EHS
Northampton High School’s softball team scored a 12-8 victory over Emmaus last week with both teams compiling most or all of their runs in the second inning.
The Hornets were the first to strike in the top of the second, which included a triple by Maddy Clark with the bases loaded. By the end of the inning, Emmaus had scored eight runs.
“We were a little concerned because we knew they were a good hitting team, but at that point, there was a lot of game left, and we were hitting a lot better in our previous games,” said Northampton coach Kevin Mann.
So, in the bottom of the second inning, Deidre Person’s double tied the game, and Brandi Davidson’s hit put the Konkrete Kids ahead.
“The girls never lost faith, and once we got the first run across and were making good contact, they knew we were in it to win it,” Mann said.
Taylor Keeney was the winning pitcher for Northampton. Heather Alich had two hits and 2 RBIs, also for the Kids.
Also last week, the K Kids took on Parkland but lost 1-0.
“The Parkland game was frustrating for us, coaches and players,” said Mann. “We played very good defensive softball and hit well enough to win, but unfortunately our hits were right at people, and when we had people in scoring position, we were unable to get the hit we needed.”
Alich went 3 for 3 against the Trojans.
