Swimmers swept by Bethlehem teams
The Northampton swimming teams had a tough time of it against Bethlehem-area teams in recent meets. Both the boys and the girls were swept by Liberty and Freedom.
Last Thursday, the Kids took on the Hurricanes, with the girls falling 142-44 and the boys losing 112-71.
On the girls side, Liberty won every event in this contest as Julia McCarthy, Kayla Drago and Chloe Kobus all won two events each to lead the way.
Annalise Christy, of Northampton, came away with two seconds on the day - one in the 200 free and the other in the 500 free. Paige Knouse was second in the 50 free and was third in the 100 fly and the 100 free. Rachel Pursell was second in the 100 back and was third in the 200 IM.
The guys had a couple of individual winners against Liberty. Gavyn Frankenfield won the 100 fly in 1:00.71. Joey Szerencsits took the 200 free in 1:59.58. Szerencsits was also third in the 500 free.
Kaden Chambers was second in the 200 IM and teammate Steton Weber took third in the event. Kyle Iasiello was second in the 100 free and Nick Pavlacka was second in the 100 back. Ben Longacre also captured a second which came in the 100 breast.
Sean Vannatta led Liberty with two wins - the 200 IM and the 100 back.
Against the Patriots this past Monday afternoon, the girls lost 107-77 while the boys fell 95-83.
Rachel Pursell and Paige Knouse picked up individual wins in this contest for the girls. Pursell won the 200 free in 2:09.33 and Knouse the 50 free in 25.87. The NHS 400 free relay team of Madison Bernal, Knouse, Emma Steirer and Pursell won with a time of 4:00.46.
Steirer was second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 back and Pursell was second in the 500 free for the Kids. Annalise Christy took third in the 200 free and the 500 free, while Bernal was third in the 200 IM and the 100 fly.
Morgan Fehnel was third in the 100 breast and Alexis Fry was third in diving.
On the guys side, Nick Pavlacka, Cory Ninos and Kyle Iasiello led the way with individual wins.
Ninos won the 50 free in 24.22 and also took second in the 100 free.
Iasiello won the 100 back in 1:00.97 and took second in the 200 IM. Teammate Kaden Chambers was second in the 100 back.
Pavlacka won the 200 free in 2:03.72.
Ben Longacre was second in the 100 breast and teammate Joey Szerencsits was third. Josh Millan was second in diving while Szerencsits was also third in the 50 free. Steton Weber was third in the 500 free and Gavyn Frankenfield was third in the 100 fly.
The 200 medley relay team won for the Kids with a time of 1:49.94. The team was made up of Ninos, Longacre, Frankenfield and Iasiello.
