McCall sisters excel at college
Northampton High School graduate Avery McCall earned first team honors at two different positions on The Colonial States Athletic Conference All-Star team that was announced recently.
McCall, a freshman at Division III Marywood University, was named First Team at both No. 6 Singles and also at No. 3 Doubles.
McCall went undefeated during the regular season in both singles and doubles. Her overall record for the Fall season was 11-1 in singles and 10-1 in doubles.
Marywood finished with an 11-2 record. It reached the CSAC title match, where it fell to Gwynedd Mercy University.
Avery's sisters Madison and Darby, who are also freshmen, made the starting lineups at their respective Division III schools this season as well.
Madison played #5 Singles and #3 Doubles for Elizabethtown College while Darby played #5 Singles and #3 Doubles for Rochester University.
Unlike Marywood which plays its league season in the fall, both Elizabethtown and Rochester play their league seasons in the Spring and play a tournament schedule in the Fall.
Madison played in two tourneys with the Blue Jays. Her top performance came in the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament where she won a pair of matches in both singles play and doubles play before being eliminated in the semifinals.
Darby played in three tournaments and also one non-league dual match for the Yellow Jackets. She picked up singles and doubles victories in the non-league match. Her best tournament performance came in the New York State Championships in Ithaca where she bounced back after losing in the opening round of singles to win two matches in the consolation round.
