Rails-to-trails group selling raffle tickets

The Lehigh Township Rails to Trails organization will be selling raffle tickets through October for gift certificates to local restaurants.

Tickets will be sold 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Redner's in Northampton. Tickets will also be available at Dream Come True at Becky's Drive-In Oct. 6, at the Slatington trailhead of the D&L Oct. 12 and at the Walnutport Canal Festival Oct. 20.

Each certificate is valued at $25. First prize will include three certificates, second will be two certificates and third will be one certificate.

Winners will be drawn Saturday, Nov. 2.

Proceeds from the raffle will be used to work in the area of Lock 25 along the towpath in Walnutport. A picnic area is being developed and informative signs are being made. The lock, which lies within Lehigh Township, is also in need of repair.


Zumba is held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Bethany Wesleyan Church gym for a cost.

Recreational volleyball is held on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. for ages 16 and up.

Competitive volleyball is held on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for ages 16 and up.

Both volleyball events also are held at Bethany Wesleyan Church.


The Cherryville Senior Center, located at Hope Lutheran Church, Route 248, Cherryville, has the following activities scheduled:

Monday, Aug. 26: 12:15 p.m., games

Tuesday, Aug. 27: 12:30 p.m., Now You See It, Now You Don't

Wednesday, Aug. 28: 12:15 p.m., bingo

Thursday, Aug. 29: 12:15 p.m., ring toss/games

Friday, Aug. 30: Labor Day meal; 12:15 p.m., penny bingo

Puzzles are available every day.
