Allen dog park still in the works

Thursday, April 25, 2013 by AL RECKER Special to The Press in Local News

Allen Township supervisors continue to pursue plans for a dog park.

The park would be located at the southern end of Howertown Park, near the Nor-Bath Trail. The proposed project has been on the township's agenda for the past couple of years.

At their meeting earlier this month, supervisors said they are awaiting approval from Northampton County before they can move ahead with the project.

No timetable for the project was given.

In other business, the supervisors approved the installation of a guardrail along a section of Kohls Road. The cost is not expected to exceed $5,600.

Traffic and speed on Tomahawk Trail was also discussed. The talk centered on the narrow nature of the road and a curve on the roadway. Two signs indicating the road is narrow and the installation of 15 m.p.h. speed limit signs may assist in slowing down traffic, the supervisors said.

Board Chairman Paul Balliet provided the township fire company's fire report for the previous month. In March, firefighters responded to 13 alarms, two dwelling fires, three structural fires and two brush fires. They also completed 93 hours of training.
