The Bhoys are back in town: Acclaimed Celtic rockers The Glengarry Bhoys perform 7:30 p.m. March 14, Civic Theatre of Allentown, 527 N. 19th St., Allentown. The concert is presented by Civic in conjunction with the West End Alliance St. Patrick's Day observance, which includes The Alliance St. Patrick's Day Parade, 1:30 p.m. March 17, for which the route includes 19th Street. The Glengarry Bhoys, above, based in Ontario, Canada, won the 2009 Celtic Instrumental Songwriters Award for their album "Mill Sessions." The group has been featured on The BBC, PBS and Canada AM. The band includes Graham Wright, guitar; Ziggy Leroux, percussion; D'Arcy Furniss, fiddle; Stephen McIntosh, pipes, whistle, mandolin; and Adam Lalonde, drums. Each band member lends vocals.The Bhoys' sound is described as a hybrid of Canadian Highland Scots and French Canadian music genres. Moody Chorale in Salisbury: The Moody Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Xiangtang Hong of the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, performs 7 p.m. March 14, Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Boulevard, Salisbury Township. The Moody Chorale, above, founded in 1946, is one of the leading collegiate choral organizations in the United States specializing in sacred music. The ensemble's repertoire includes music from all periods of sacred music. The Chorale tours the United States twice a year. The Bible Fellowship concert is part of its spring tour. Previous summer tours have included Great Britain, Australia, Israel, Guatemala. and South Africa. In 2006, Hong was appointed to the faculty of Moody Bible Institute, where she was conductor of the Women's Concert Choir & Handbell Ensemble for five years. The Moody Bible Institute, founded in 1886 by evangelist D.L. Moody, is a non-denominational undergraduate and graduate level institution. A free-will offering will be taken. Crest Reimert Lecture: Filmmaker and philanthropist Abigail E. Disney delivers the William D. Reimert Lecture, 7 p.m. March 14, Samuels Theatre, Tompkins College Center, Cedar Crest College, Hamilton and Cedar Crest boulevards, Allentown. Disney, left, receives an honorary degree from the college prior to her lecture. The theme of Disney's lecture, "Why Women Matter," is how empowering women can change communities. Disney's film, "Pray the Devil Back to Hell," which documented how Liberian women peacefully ended their country's 14-year civil war, won the documentary award at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival. Disney is executive producer of the PBS miniseries "Women, War & Peace." Disney co-founded the Daphne Foundation, which works with low-income persons in New York City. She founded Peace is Loud, which amplifies women's voices for peace-building through the media. The lecture is free and open to the public.
