Wruble, Farkas lead K-Kids
Daniel Farkas scored the first two goals, and Derrick Wruble netted a hat trick to propel Northampton (8-6-1) to a 7-3 win over Pleasant Valley/Quakertown last Monday night at Lehigh Valley Ice Arena.
The Konkrete Kids put a lot of pressure on net in the opening minutes. Six shots were put on net, all saved by Devon Supper. Finally Northampton got their well-deserved goal from Farkas at the 9:12 mark.
Connor Palush and Thomas Waidelich, however, pushed Pleasant Valley/Quakertown in front within the first three minutes of the second period.
But Northampton came right back, thanks again to Farkas.
"It was just like the first goal," Farkas said. "We were just trying to bang away at net. I was creeping around behind the net, and just trying to hang out back door. I was telling them on the bench to just throw it in front of the net because you never know what could happen. It bounced off the keeper and I was there for the rebound."
Wruble broke the tie at the 6:55 mark when he hit a slap shot into a crowd that Supper just could not see with the bodies in front of her. The Kids never trailed from that point.
Eric Tanczos pushed the lead to two in the second period when his wrister snuck under the glove of Supper.
Wruble scored two more in the final period, and Gunnar Mishko tallied a shorthanded, empty netter.
Trent Hale scored his team's third goal on a fast-paced skate down the ice and through the defense.
Christopher Tanczos made 18 saves on 21 shots for Northampton. The Kids have one more regular season game next Wednesday night before playoffs start the following week.
"We're rolling right now," added Farkas. "This is our third straight win and coach[Ruff] said if there's any time to get a win streak going, it's right now before playoffs start."
