The Northampton Area Public Library is currently seeking candidates to fill a vacancy that now exists on the library board plus another upcoming vacancy.
Candidates should have a strong sense of advocacy for public library services.
These positions are three-year terms and involve meetings the second Wednesday of the month starting at 7 p.m. Meetings generally run two hours.
Board members' duties also include reviewing documents, leading a subcommittee meeting, advocating for the library at public events and participating in strategic planning.

Northampton Area High School graduate Dayna Kline was voted as one of the 10 finalists in the National Rite Aid Glam Camp Model Search.
Now a sophomore at Muhlenberg College, Kline was involved in many sports at NAHS and also started the "Club Ophelia" program for young girls to help them overcome bullying. The winner of the Glam Camp Model Search is chosen by popular vote. Voting began Oct. 15 and continues through Oct. 28, so there's still time.

Don't forget the Alec Ferullo Family Fund Benefit 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Gin Mill & Grille on Main Street in Northampton.
Alec, a 2012 Northampton graduate, died Oct. 8 from brain cancer. Among his last wishes was that he not be forgotten. The event will remember him while benefitting his family.
Bands include Social Call, Endzone and School of Rock's Bank Street Band along with deejay RMK Entertainment.
For sale will be T-shirts, mugs, Alec's Army bracelets, raffles and a basket social. Discounted tickets can be purchased in advance at the Gin Mill.

The 64th Annual Jack Frost Parade, presented by the Northampton Exchange Club, will take place tonight, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. The route will be the same as the previous two years. The rain date is Oct. 25.
Candy will be thrown, so bring your goody bags.
The Northampton Area Public Library will hold its annual autumn basket social on Friday, Oct. 19, 6 p.m., at the Northampton Memorial Community Center, 16th Street and Laubach Avenue.
Donations of new or collectible items, gift certificates/cards and monetary donations to help defray expenses are being accepted. Food will be available for purchase.

Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church, 14th Street and Washington Avenue, will hold a flea market and bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley. Orders for the fall nut roll sale are being taken. The deadline is Oct. 28.

The Northampton Area Food Bank will hold its annual Halloween walkathon on Saturday, Oct. 27. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the food bank, 1601 Canal St.
The walk will start at 9 a.m. Participants will walk approximately 4 miles along the canal to the borough's Municipal Park, 16th Street and Laubach Avenue, and back to the food bank.

The Northampton Memorial Community Center, 16th Street and Laubach Avenue, hosts bingo every Monday night.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the games begin at 7 p.m. The kitchen is open.
